Apoorva Krishna – Intuition

Award-winning violinist Apoorva Krishna presents music from her stellar debut album Intuition, performed by a unique quartet of violin, khanjira+percussion, piano and electric bass, featuring young trailblazers like Sunaad Anoor and Dhani Muniz, also featuring compositions by pianist Aman Mahajan.

While firmly rooted in Carnatic music, Apoorva's music takes journeys through her many other influences including jazz, flamenco, European classical music, and the blues. Apoorva has shared close musical relationships with legends like Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin and Shankar Mahadevan, to name a few, and is also featured on the Grammy-nominated album Shuruaat by the Berklee Indian Ensemble.

Worth mentioning is Apoorva's deep interest in going beyond simply juxtaposing Carnatic ragas over Western harmony; her sincerity in exploring other styles shines through in her compositions, steering her in a direction that could truly be called world music.
